Title The Cycle of Life

“That place where earth meets the vast open seas and huge expansive skies.”
- Kyra Kane illustrates her ceramics inspired by natural landscapes.  Gardens, woodland, the countryside, waterways, and the sea; each of these outside areas, with their accompanying soundscapes and plant diversity, have been my “pain relief” through the Covid years and subsequent months. Ibrahim El-Salahi’s “Pain Relief Drawings” inspired the design for the paper which was used to wrap around the border frame. Fine cotton and gold threads are used to bring small life giving creatures to life.

The Cycle of Life captures the feeling of space and beauty through a harmonious colour pallet of greens and blues touched by earthy woodland brown. The artwork encapsulates significant experiences and skills gained throughout the year.

“I will continue to visit galleries, exhibitions and museums and develop my practice by embarking on further courses at West Dean.”
