Drawing for me is an act of understanding, love and acceptance. My work represents internal states through gestures and mark-making. My background in psychology, social care and health are influences. I am interested in developing a practice and methodology that provides emotional and physical as well as cultural enrichment. The act of making art in the landscape is meditative, allowing a deeper connection with place.
I have developed a practice of walking and drawing allowing me a greater sense of connection with the landscape. This gives an immediacy of response; a way of capturing the emotion and physical feeling of walking, alongside environmental influences from the weather, the drawings being transported and the materials being handled. Drawing as a physical act. The rhythm of heart, breath, feet being transferred to the surface.
The drawings are embedded with augmented reality to situate fine art within the environment in a way that would be accessible and participatory. I will continue to explore ways to include a transmedia participatory audience and how to make landscape art relevant in a digital environment on my MA Fine Art course.

“During the OFCAD, my love of drawing has been cemented. Mark making is a common human experience, the realisation of thoughts and feelings, transferred outside of ourselves in a lasting way. An introduction to critical reflection has allowed me to develop a coherent body of work, understanding why some pieces are stronger than others. Being introduced to many different artists has provided a reference point for developing new techniques and understanding how to present and talk about my work.”
