Title: Shinrin-Yoku
The view from my window is deeply important to me. Beyond it lies a small woodland that, in recent years, has become essential to my wellbeing. The Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing,” describes the therapeutic effects of spending time immersed in nature. My enquiry explored whether viewing nature through a window might also offer some of these restorative qualities and whether a creative representation might provide a place to pause, reflect and experience calm.
