Title My Skip
The composition places my heart in the sky overlooking a skip of expressive colour that adds depth and intensity, while rainbow tones convey love, sentiment and resilience highlighting the strength of seven family hearts. These motifs are set against fractured timelines, reflecting the puzzles hidden within the skip to show the replacement from old to new. A ladder acts as a metaphor, suggesting either an escape or a pathway toward stability and normality, through the mountains and clouds that evolve both challenge and new possibilities.
I was influenced by Mike Bernard who “enjoys experimenting with media and techniques, often using mixed media incorporating collage and acrylics.” His experiment use of collage inspired my inventiveness, combined with mixed media and mark making.
This process felt playful yet compulsive, while remaining deeply thought-provoking.
