Title: Harmony in the Rift

Harmony in the Rift explores what is held inside and what lies outside. Harmony is not the absence of discord but a space where both can coexist like waves breaking, retreating and returning. The project investigates belonging, tension and the quiet spaces between extremes. Living permanently between countries, unable to return to where I began, I exist between shores and find rest in the horizon line, reflecting on what lies on either side. My mind often moves in absolutes, drawn to the certainty of black and white, yet my lived experience shows that truth also lives in greys, and solace and joy in colour.

Conceptual and colour enquiry investigates how a horizon can hold both harmony and rupture; a meeting place for inner and outer worlds. It explores the rift between belonging and displacement and how the sea forgets the border both within myself and in the external world. Material/process enquiry investigates how repetitive mark making and layered colour and paper can show rhythms of waves advancing, retreating and returning. The tearing of the paper quietly accentuates the rift beneath the surface.
