How are our minds shaped by the bodily experience of being in the world? What does it mean to own land, have mastery over it, tame the wild outside? This work considers these issues and my own experience of having covid, isolating inside my home and containing my breath to prevent spreading the virus outside my body.
The outcome is finished but not final. I would like it to be a starting point for further exploration of some of the themes, such as fences marking the environment and altering its use. My practice is just beginning. I’m looking forward to taking a further course to build on the OFCAD year.
“The OFCAD course enabled me to take the time to explore techniques and directions in art and design and provided the motivation for consistent practice and experimentation. It
inspired me to tackle materials and subjects that were entirely new... or where I had not engaged since school. Importantly, it
supported me in taking risks and reduced the fear of spoiling a work-in-progress. It also encouraged me to reflect on my work and that of the group and to articulate constructive
feedback. The point for me was to explore creative outlets alongside full time work and to enjoy the experience.”
