Title: The Muses
The textile artwork uses a family heirloom cloth. The cloth is long and thin as was meant for a sideboard which for me resonates with the abundance of the harvest depicted in the ceiling of the Music Room in Lancaster. The artwork depicts the architectural lines of the façade of the building which then curve into the lines of the decorative plasterwork and the garden, all in hand stitch. It uses fragments of collaged textiles which include silk paintings. I have a passion for textiles and have rediscovered that in a different way through this course and am looking to develop my approach to textile art through a Masters course.
